This is a La Pavoni Europiccola. Williams-Sonoma was discontinuing these since they weren't selling well. So, it was 699 regular and on sale for 299. Since we had an old machine from there that was crapping out, (and was conveniently priced the same) we straight-up traded the old machine for the new one.

This is a lever machine, so all of the pressure needed to pull shots comes from your arms. It's not that hard given the length of the lever, but it does involve one more variable. If you search the name of the machine on Youtube, you can find lots of videos of them in operation.

Or, the next time you come visit, you can play with the machine to your heart's content. (Or, if we come down there sometime, I'll bring it with me.)

One of my hobbies over the last two years has been trying to figure out the intricacies of roasting and brewing coffee. I don't have an espresso machine that is capable of tolerable espresso, but I've been researching them for the day I have the money to spend. Can't say I've come across this one. What is it? And what's the verdict on it's performance and functionality?
